Everything below assumes you know nothing. Read it in order, and by the end you'll have a clear picture of what to do first — and what to ignore for now.
Step 1: Understand what an online business actually is
An online business is just a business where you find customers, deliver value, and get paid over the internet. That's it. Strip away the jargon and every online business does three things: attracts attention, builds trust, and offers something worth paying for.

Step 2: Pick one model
Beginners fail by trying five things at once. Pick one model to learn first:
- Affiliate marketing — recommend products, earn commissions. Lowest startup cost.
- Digital products — sell what you know as a guide, template, or course.
- Services — sell your time and skill (writing, design, bookkeeping…).
- Content + audience — build an audience first, monetize later (slowest path).
There's no universally "best" choice — there's the one you'll actually stick with for 90 days.
Step 3: Set up your foundation (free)
You need three things to start: a place people can find you (a page), a way to stay in touch (email list), and a way to get paid (later — not day one). One free platform account covers the first two right now.

Step 4: Learn the core skills, one at a time
In this order — each builds on the last:
- Sales funnels — how strangers become customers
- Email marketing — your most valuable asset
- Digital products — what to sell first
- Affiliate marketing — earning by recommending
Step 5: Launch something small
Your first launch should be embarrassingly small: a one-page freebie, a three-email welcome sequence, a $9 guide. Small ships; perfect never does.
